To avoid hunting accidents, a community obliges pickers to wear vests

The town hall, in Savoie, issued a municipal decree obliging the mushroom pickers to wear a reflective vest in order to be more easily identified by the shoes.

According to the document, revealed by France Bleu Savoie, walkers will have to dress well on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. "When a mushroom collector stands in the middle of a wood, even if you shoot a game, there may be a lost bullet," says a hunter in the village. "At least, with the vest, the mushroom pickers will be more visible."

In the other camp, the speech is necessarily different. "If the hunters could already identify their target before shooting, we would not be there," denounced a passerby.

The fact remains that the municipality assumes its choice, reminding anyway that no penalty will be taken if a person does not wear a reflective vest. On October 13, in the neighboring department of Haute-Savoie, a mountain biker was killed by a hunter.
