Recently we
celebrated the day of remembrance of victims of accidents at work. But it's
probably not the only reason to organize such a large training just in Nowak
Sol?
The main organizer
of the event is the general contractor. The idea was born in connection with
the construction of participation in the competition organized by the National
Labor Inspectorate. We wanted to raise the standards on construction sites and
provide additional training. Hence the idea to organize a picnic health and
safety, where companies that specialize in this industry in providing secure
technical solutions, will have the opportunity to do lectures or training crew.
We, as a safety service that operates on the construction site every day with
the problems we face. And the day that disabled employees from work, allowing
them to focus on what is most important, which is on safety.
Do you have any
data showing how such training influence the improvement of safety? This is a
long-term work...
Does many years of
knowledge to the pile heads?
Exactly! We
observe the employees and we see them in this evolution. At the time of making
cooperation with them on one of the first projects to come to our building and
wants they are often not prepared or hardware or training. We will hand out the
safety reflective clothing to them for safety. You can see, however,
that ending one project that you have become familiar with the rules,
procedures and participating in such training, their approach to matters
related to occupational health and safety is totally different. This awareness
is raised; it is easier for us to work with them and above all safe. This is
definitely a result, if you put it in the statistics, the lack of accidents on
site. We raise this awareness, because you know that the closer the load and
deadlines, the more increases the pace and threats grow.
And what are today
the biggest sins on construction sites?
I say perhaps the
most dangerous of these classes. First of all, it is working at height.
Besides, the statistics also can be seen that the most severe and fatal
accidents take place on the scaffolding. And yet I would add to this work in
the trenches. There are also serious accidents occur, they are relatively rare,
but if you happen to some, they are severe or fatal accidents. With this work
we observe the greatest risk.
But such trifles
in the style of coming to work without a helmet? It probably does not happen?
No. But a few
years ago it happened.
Sometimes, as she
walks through the city, you will see men on scaffolding without helmets and
t-shirts...
Yes, in smaller
firms without supervision it happens. This is standard.
We each employee
must have a helmet, reflective vest. It also controls access to the construction
site, are magnetic cards. Each first undergo training, and later gets a pass.
And if you do not have these basic personal protection measures simply will not
enter.
