Reflective elements for pedestrians to keep the safety

With the coming autumn, cool weather and increasingly shorter days, pedestrians are very up-to-date reflective clothing elements. Since this year, it is also necessary to wear them for poor visibility when walking along a road outside the village.

Rake thinks so. "Now in the autumn I got something reflexive for the whole family, including my husband. Children have reflexive elements on their briefcases, but they do not wear it all the time, "said a thirty-three-year-old woman, bought them all the reflective tapes they usually wear on her legs, and the kids still casting them with a zip jacket.

The pedestrian, wearing dark clothing, noticed the driver at a distance of less than twenty meters. If he is wearing a reflective vest, the driver will see him at a distance of two hundred meters. This is because the material reflects the light in the narrow cone back to the source.

Reflective materials are best placed to the knees or to the ends of the sleeves and to the waist level. If people have only one reflective element, it is important that they are attaching to the side of the road and not hidden underneath the clothing. Purchases can be made for example in stationery, sports outlets, in a supermarket, but also in a shop, post office, or petrol station.

Since the end of February, there has been an amendment to the law, which clearly states that pedestrians traveling on the road outside the village must have reflective elements on their low visibility. They must be visible from the front and from the rear. The duty to wear is not only when the dark is falling, but also when the fog is raining or snowing. "We're focusing on the controls. Rather, we are betting on prevention. We are trying to warn people about these things, "said the police spokesman Bouie.

Orange vests as a symbol: Drivers should receive more money

A number of public transport drivers supported the protest of their colleagues from Jawbone. Dozens of bus drivers, trolleybuses, and trams from the Labem Region have dressed yesterday with reflective vests. They wanted to support the protest of their colleagues from Jawbone who called for the fight against dumped prices in public transport. The orange vest also took several drivers from the local transport company.

"We have no average wage"
The problem of trade unionists in the region is mainly low wages and lack of drivers. The average gross wage in the Labem Region was 23,696 crowns. Such a salary does not often have drivers of transport companies often with overtime. Bus Line dealers, which provide some lines in the Usti Region, therefore require that the minimum wages of drivers be clearly set in the award of contracts.

A couple of drivers took the vest, others were afraid
According to the head of trade unionists of the Jerk Rudolf Transport Company, the Duchy average drivers' salary of CZK 22,000 including overtime. "The problem is that drivers are not," he said. Not all drivers were wearing reflex vests to support the demands of their colleagues from Jawbone. "Some have not taken the vest because of fears of possible consequences," said Musial, and the transport company's management also found out whether the rider would ride in orange vests and would not violate the prescription for clothing. "It turned out that no violation of the regulations would occur." Musial said. The exact number of drivers who took Comet’s orange vests was unsuccessful. "We did not follow it, it was only for the decision of the drivers," commented the Comet trade union chief.

The Czech press office (CTK) said that the local government knows about the protest, but it will not interfere with it. "We competed with the carrier, the price we pay for how much money is then distributed, it's a matter of companies," she said. "The tenders are behind us and the carriers said they wanted to pay for the prices they said we cannot get apart to decide to increase prices," Kaminski added. The Region signed ten-year contracts for the operation of bus lines. The problem is, according to councilor Yaroslavl Kaminski, mainly in the lack of drivers. "By now setting a minimum wage, they will not come. The problem is that there are no apprenticeships, "he said.

Without work, 51,782 people were unemployed in September; the unemployment rate was 9.1 percent. Drivers, according to the Labor Office, are among the most sought-after professions. Flyers with information about the protest had some drivers in Most and Litvinov in their cabin. "The leadership did not allow us to wear high visibility vests, so we will have leaflets to support our colleagues," said ČTK chairman of the transport union, the company's drivers take an average of CZK 21,311. Vests also dressed some street drivers in Labem. "We agree that wages should be dignified. However, the protest is voluntary, and the employees can join him individually, "said Jan Hampers, the union's chief, who is now waiting for talks on a new collective agreement that will cover wages.

Only a helmet to protect is not enough

Weekend mischief at the Sepang circuit reminded cyclists that riding in two rounds are a very risky fun; even if you are driving in the apparent safety of the racetrack. In the footage of a tragic accident, it can be seen that Marco Simon celli was wearing all the security equipment that a competitor could wear in a fateful moment. "Marco was wearing the most modern outfit that was produced, even with his airbag, but when a heavy MotoGP motorcycle is hit at full speed, it would not help even the armor," Lukas Peeks, a Czech competitor, commented.

No safety precautions can completely protect a rider on a motorcycle. In such an unfortunate case, even the best defense aids do not help, but you cannot underestimate them, even if you do not. It does not matter if you go on a trip only occasionally and you and bikers are overtaking you, you have to protect yourself and the helmet is definitely not enough.

The so-called "backbone" is not new, but a number of motorcyclists have consistently overlooked this part of the equipment, but according to many experts, it is the most important part of the equipment after the helmet and safety vest, which can prevent spinal injuries that are mostly fatal to riders.

Patellar can buy today from about five hundred crowns for the cheapest models to thousands of protectors. The protective function is similar, but the more expensive the protector, the better you will feel in it will be better ventilated and sitting on your back. If you go "just a bit" and do not want to get dressed in the whole equipment, take at least the backbone, it can help you a lot.

We have become accustomed to the airbags in the car, and even in the offer of new cars, we are not talking about this part of safety; it is simply a matter of course. However, the airbag on the motorbike is still a big unknown and it has been dared to pass only a few brands in the series. One of them is the Swiss, which offers many interesting reflective jackets, which at first glance look like a classic textile jacket.

The main goal with reflective material is road safety

For two weeks now, an amendment has been passed, which commands pedestrians outside the village to have retro-reflective elements in the low visibility. According to the police, more and more people are respecting this duty. And those who do not get the same fine. Instead, it receives a reflective tape. Mayors of some municipalities are looking forward to helping them fight prostitution, but according to the police presidency, the main goal is road safety.

The reflective element must be worn by pedestrians who move outside the village in low visibility on the roadside or on the edge of the road in a place not illuminated by public lighting. However, people who have a reflective vest even when its daylight more and more often see the streets. Most often, it is attached to a bag or backpack. According to the police, more and more people are taking care of their safety.

"With cases where a pedestrian does not know or does not respect the new duties, we also meet in the service, but it is possible to say that people are increasingly aware of their own security and reflect elements are remembered," said spokesman Police Boca. Police officers in the wagon carry a large supply of reflective tapes, which give way to fines. By the end of the year, they plan to donate up to a quarter of a million.

"So far, the pedestrians are reminded of the amendment to the law and we deal with the offense by agreement. Our goal is not only repression, but also especially prevention, and teaching pedestrians to wear reflective elements as part of clothing and everyday outdoors, "confirmed Vicuna’s spokeswoman Dana. According to her, the number of pedestrian-related accidents in January and February has decreased compared to last year. Last year there were 19 in the Highlands, while this year 13.
