Mandatory retro-reflective facilities

It is official: as of 1 January 2013, motorcycle drivers and scooters of over 125 cm3 and motor tricycles over 20 hp should wear retro reflective equipment, under penalty of a fixed fine of 68 Euros and a withdrawal of two points!

The Ministry of Interior has published in the Official Journal Decree No. 2012-3 of 3 January 2012, specified by an order of January 3, 2012, on retro reflective equipment that will be mandatory from 1 January 2013 for drivers and passengers of a motorized two-wheelers over 125 cm3 " or L5e category vehicle with a power greater than 15 kW " (20.4 hp, Ed).

Not mandatory for cycling and 125
Specifically, if it is almost expressly MP3 drivers, this obligation does not touch - for now - the drivers of cyclists and 125 cm3. Which greatly surprising, since due to their smaller size and less powerful lighting, cyclists and 125 are even less visible than big cars...?

Reportedly, this was explained by the fact that these vehicles operate primarily in urban areas, where fatalities are fewer. On the other hand, users of mopeds and 125 have already been sufficiently "cooled" by previous decisions of the IRB, respectively Technical Supervision and training of 7 days...

There is however likely that this requirement with reflective material will extend in future to all two and three-wheel regardless of displacement, according to the same pattern as the helmet (first made compulsory in 1973 for large displacement out agglomeration, and then gradually extended to all PTWs).

Is my jacket compliant?
According to the decree published today in the Official Journal, the equipment can be retro-reflective "in one or more parts “but must always" be a total area of at least 150 cm2.” Waiting to see on our roads - with some perverse forward, let's face it! - the "security forces" out their tape measure, it is necessary to accurately measure all the reflective portions of your existing jacket to see if it will pass the 2013 bug ...

If retro reflective equipment does not comply it will be changing jacket or him "superimpose by any means" provided that it is “focused on the upper body, except the helmet, from the waist with the shoulder line, so as to be visible to other road users.”

Clearly, a Reflective Armband 30 cm by 5 slipped over the handle will do ... which is surprisingly not the case that distributed to journalists by the Ministry of Transport! With 25 cm of 5.8 (or 145 cm2), the official cuff "Road safety all responsible" (photo above) is simply not consistent...

These equipments help you avoid fractures, burns and abrasions. The vest-airbag can save your life by cushioning a fall or shock. A reflective vest sure to be seen in bad weather or at night and can avoid an accident. In addition, it should also make sure that your equipment is well at your waist and meet current standards.

There is no point running…
Speed makes the difference. A trend reinforced by the end of the clamping motorcycles. It is actually to adapt their speed to the circumstances and traffic: Never forget that drivers of cars or heavy trucks may be surprised by your arrival. By reducing its speed, a biker can gain precious meters on its stopping distance (remember, you need 85 m to stop at a motorcycle traveling at 90 km / h).

Warning passenger
Raise a passenger on his motorcycle or scooter is nothing trivial. Upon leaving, do not forget that the increased weight or raising the center of gravity have an impact on the behavior of your vehicle. In addition, you are responsible for your passenger; it is your duty to check his equipment. Do not hesitate to recall the basic advice, especially if you bring with you a child in safety vest or a person unaccustomed to this type of vehicle.

Yet, according to many scientists, the ride can also be practiced to extreme temperatures, such as the North Pole in the Sahara desert.

Because it is good to run in the cold
There are two basic reasons why sport in winter is good for the body. First of all winter, with the shortening of the days and the decrease in sunlight; increase the symptoms of mood disorders. Physical activity, however, has positive effects on mood and helps to better deal with the (small or large) daily problems. Second play sports when its cold strengthens the immune system (in the absence of specific diseases) and helps to avoid the classic seasonal ailments such as colds, sore throats, flu.

The reflective clothing as winter night running
The right clothing is among the most important aspects of running outdoors in winter. There is a rule for all equal, but dressing according to the perceived temperature in the rest condition is an error. It is normal, in fact, be cold in the stopped state or at the beginning of the race, but already after the first few minutes of heating the body starts to heat up and produce heat. In general, better wear close-fitting garments, in order to decrease the amount of air between the skin and the tissue. From absolutely avoid cotton, which absorbs moisture and cools quickly.

The first tip is directed in particular to the runner struggling with the first winter racing: is the personal experience that must guide the choice of the outfit perfect race, so it is best to go by trial and error, trying to dress in layers so as to be able to undress as the body temperature increases. The rule (basic) for all is one that should not be cold, but not too much sweat. Some say that by adding the outside temperature is 10 ° ideal clothing arrivals. The key issue is protecting hands, feet and head (the latter disperses up to 30% of body heat). Equally important it is to wear a thermal shirt to bare skin (which must be of good quality not creating itching and other discomfort in contact with skin). Above, when needed, it is good to wear a light jacket against the rain in nylon and anti wind. If the temperature drops below, you can add technical underwear (hot and very adherent) or opt for a heavier jacket. The majority of sports garments from winter stroke are implemented with reflective fabric inserts, but in case of fog, darkness or reduced visibility, it is appropriate to adopt the right precautions and acquire luminescent.
