ROAD SAFETY: REFLECTION OF REFLECTIVE VESTS AT THE ASRSM ASSOCIATION

On Wednesday, May 28, 2021, the SXM Road Safety Association organized a day dedicated to road safety, for the benefit of the youth of Quartier d'Orléans.

The purpose of the association is to supervise and support young people from school in their adult life, to promote social ties as well as the development of civic values through school projects, to fight against dropping out of school, the prevention of delinquency, the problems of integration and professional integration.

This Wednesday, 70 children and adolescents, aged 6 to 16, benefited from road safety awareness including:

Knowledge of the highway code adapted to 06/11 years and 12/16 years,

road track,

fight against addictions (alcohol and drugs),

introduction to training for the Road Safety Certificate (driving a scooter) using a two-wheel simulator and expert advice from the Saint-Martin firefighters.

The associations of Quartier Orléans, the college of Quartier Orléans, SEMSAMAR, the family protection brigade (National Gendarmerie), as well as the firefighters of Saint-Martin made a strong contribution to this event.

On this occasion, an operation to hand over reflective vests to participants was carried out during this day. The Prefecture of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélémy offered some 30 reflective vests, thus allowing children and adolescents to be more visible on the axes of Saint-Martin.

Good visibility for the driver in traffic is essential. This is supervised to guarantee its safety, that of its passengers and other road users. Several “road safety” days are scheduled by ASR SXM. Other distributions of reflective vests will be organized in this context.

Listed the contents of the trunk to avoid a fine

Each driver must have a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, yellow reflective vest, and warning triangle in the trunk of the car. They will help not only avoid fines but also save lives if necessary. It is very important to ensure that the expiration date of the first aid kit and fire extinguisher has not expired.

Automotive expert Yegor Vasiliev told the agency of economic news "Prime" about it. He also advised me to personally check whether the fire extinguisher is fully charged. According to the expert, you cannot save on them. Cheap devices are almost ineffective because they have little or no extinguishing agent. In general, it is better to have two fire extinguishers in the car just in case.

Vasiliev suggested that the drivers immediately, as soon as they decided to get out of the car in case of a breakdown, put on a reflective vest and put up an emergency stop sign.

"It will make you much more visible and increase your safety level. When the problem is resolved, be sure to take the warning triangle with you. Often motorists forget them on the road, misleading the rest of the traffic participants," the expert said.

Vasiliev also advised, in addition to the mandatory means, to have in the car a tow rope, a flashlight, a pump, a glass breaker, and a minimum set of tools.

In November 2020, the Ministry of Health allowed Russian drivers to independently complete a car first aid kit by a special list of the department.

Unique Christmas trees for preschoolers

Children from Kindergarten No. 4 and 15 in Sieradz received unique reflective Christmas trees. The kids, together with the policemen and an employee of the Sieradz WORD, decorated Christmas trees with them. Reflective elements appeared instead of baubles.

As every year, the policemen of the Sieradz headquarters remember about the youngest inhabitants of our region. The Santa Claus joint patrol of policemen and WORD employees visited preschoolers. However, Mikołaj did not move in a sleigh, but in a police car. Thanks to the support of the Sieradz branch of the Provincial Road Traffic Center, children received gifts in the form of reflective vests and key rings.

The head of the road traffic department, subinsp. Grzegorz Będkowski, police preventive young asp. Bożena Grobelna and Tomasz Olejnik from the Sieradz WORD. It was also a good opportunity to popularize the knowledge of road safety among the youngest. During the conversation with the children, the rules of safe road movement were recalled. The youngest ones were made aware of the importance of wearing reflective elements, especially in the autumn and winter season, when it gets dark earlier and visibility is much worse. This unusual action brought a lot of joy and brought smiles to children's faces.

Jalisco insists on vest and plates for motorcyclists

Although at the time the measure rejected for stigmatizing the person, the Government of the State of Jalisco decided to relaunch the program and announced that from March all motorcyclists must wear a reflective vest with some plates. Otherwise, they will be fined and the vehicle will be confiscated if they do not prove its origin. The operation will be applied throughout the State, mainly in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara (AMG) and is aimed at low-displacement bikes of less than 250 cubic centimeters.

The authority argues that motorcycles used to commit crimes and are handled by people. That is, those who notify suspected members of organized crime when elements of a police corporation up to a certain demarcation. However, neither the coordinator of the Cabinet of Security in the State, nor the Secretary of Public Security, released statistics on the number of crimes in which they use this type of transport, and that finally led them to reactivate the operatives. Of course, "There are thousands of motorcycles used by criminals to steal, to assault, to transport the stolen material, to flee from authority, to transport drugs, in such a way that there are real bands of motorcyclists that without any control runs through our streets and avenues representing a risk for society, "said Macedonio Tamez Guajardo, coordinator of the Security Cabinet.

This operation implemented by the last administration and in the end, it suspended due to the precautionary measures issued by the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH). We recommend: More than 40 complaints about fuel theft in Tlajomulco Today, he said, "we are not asking" the CEDHJ. Also, he said that the measure does not violate human rights.

Motorcyclists must carry plate numbers in vests or shirts with a size of 30 by 20 cm; they must have 20% anti-reflective material in their clothing; helmet, lights, flashing signals; carry the circulation card and the license. "This measure will not only allow them to be identified with certainty in an instant but at the same time it intends to avoid delinquency and the misuse of these vehicles, a provision that already exists in the current regulations but has been unduly ignored for many years," argued Tamez.

The fine for motorcyclists who fail the measure is between 844 to 2 thousand 534 pesos. Also, the vehicle will be insured in case of not carrying the driving card and the motorcyclist's license. 638 motorcycles confiscated This operation started last week and until just this Wednesday it became official. The Secretary of Public Security of the State of Jalisco, Daniel Velasco Ramírez explained that 638 motorcycles have been confiscated. Forty percent lacked plates and 60 percent of circulation cards.

In that time, road agents raised 2 thousand 921 infractions was the coordinator of Security, Guajardo said that 80 percent of motorcycles have not been claimed by the owners. Hence, it is presumed that they are stolen and used to commit a crime. "Interestingly of the bikes that have been insured for infractions, most have not been picked up by their owners, which speaks that many of them were stolen and used for crime and is in the corralón, the owner of them must submit documentation, pay the fine and you can recover it, but at least 80 percent are still there," he concluded.
